My racing journey started after helping out my brother in his rookie year of 2013 at bemsee. Having already been around the paddock it was the logical place to start.
Me and a friend had a great idea to turn up to a wet rookie school at Brands in 2014 on two Yamaha R6s. I had never ridden a geared bike or anything bigger then the odd twist and go moped in a field before that day. I rapidly crashed in the second session at Paddock Hill, went over the handlebars and snapped my UCL in my right thumb.
Luckily I managed to finish the day and even after stalling the practice start some crazy guy decided I had done enough and I got my race licence, as the saying goes you gotta start somewhere.
Since 2014 I've raced with bemsee pretty much every year since in the 600 class. Rookies, Clubman and the finally MRO. I’m happy to say I've improved in my riding ability since the rookie school!
I slowly made my way up the grid, finishing 2nd in the clubman before progressing to MRO. I clinched the MRO 600 title after a year long battle with the late Jamie Kelman in 2019. Taking the championship in the last race of the year after a last lap overtake for 2nd at Graham Hill handed me the title by a few points with Jamie finishing 4th. Since then I've managed to take a 2nd and a 3rd in the MRO 600, so I have the full set on the shelf at home.
2026 I was privileged when Jake asked me to help out Rep the 600 class, the class has gone from strength to strength under his leadership. Being classed as one of the old boys now its great to see it still thriving.
Here's to another great year of racing with Bemsee.
