I'm Kev & I'm the riders rep for the Minitwin class at the club.
My introduction into paddock life was as a `gofer` for one of my friends that used to race at BEMSEE before he emigrated to the US, where he raced very successfully until 5 years ago.
After several `spirited` rides around the roads near where he lived, he suggested that I ought to start doing track days with a view to getting my ACU licence. Needless to say that once I started track riding, I became hooked.
I did my ACU on a very wet Wednesday at Bedford Autodrome, where I garaged with a fellah that suggested that if I planned on going racing, I ought to try Minitwins as they're a little more sympathetic on tyres & gearboxes than some 600's or 1000's.
It clearly made a lot of sense at the time, as it still does today, as 2027 will be my 15th season in the class.
There is fantastic camaraderie throughout the MT grid, and riders are happy to loan spares to each other to ensure everyone can get out to race.
We're also privileged to have seen some fantastic talent in the class over the years, with lap records tumbling at most circuits in both the MRO & Rookie classes during the 2026 season.
If you have any technical queries, or need any guidance on where to go for what, drop me a line as I'm happy to offer completely impartial advice to cater for your plans & budget.
See you on the grid....
Kev
