BMCRC plans for 2026

Again, we want to thank all of our Members for their continued loyalty

to the Club and support of our events. We know you spend pretty well

every spare penny on your racing and work hard to make that happen.

The Bemsee Family theme has risen to the surface again in 2025, the stories around the paddock of help & support and just good old camaraderie are many. The Club is a coming together of like minds who try to achieve affordable, safe, well managed, competitive, fair and fun racing within a supportive environment. It’s our volunteer Marshals & Officials….these hero’s travelling around the country to ensure we have good numbers to run safe meetings with adequately marshalled circuits. Without them it’s not possible, they embody the Bemsee Family. We see examples of our people helping and going the extra mile at each event – the Club is so grateful to you all.

We also invest in equipment and vehicles for our dedicated Medical Team, unique in Club racing. So, some of your entry fees go to support all of this with a contribution to Marshal & Official expenses, also breakfast and lunch for them on all 3 days of any meeting. We replaced the original Ben Lightowler Medical car with a new version Volvo Fast Response Unit during the closed season – with help from riders in the paddock and personal donations as well as money from our Benevolent Fund. We also invested in a new set of transponders. So some of any surplus we might make at the end of the season is put back into supporting our Members.

Our planning for 2026 continues to focus on a mix of exciting classes and great circuits that can continue to deliver full grids and great racing.

Circuits

2025 pushed to provide a wide but viable circuit mix and we still have ambitions to extend that where dates become available. So conversations continue regarding Brands GP and we have explored options at Anglesey, this would be a new circuit for the Club.

We have been able to secure Oulton over 3 days again, Thursday to Saturday over Easter. This time, we will be able to run a full race schedule with 6.30pm curfew on both race days – different to ’25 where the Friday was restricted to a 5pm stop.

We have also been able to secure two dates again on the ever-popular Donington, where we will again try both circuit formats.

Gaps will be 3-4 weeks between each event, and we are able to finish at Brands in ’26 in early October – with 9 rounds in total.

Not everything we wanted was available, but we will keep pushing to find viable variation in where we go over the next 2-3 years.

Classes

Most classes will stay the same although we are introducing some new innovations in 2026 to try to maximise the numbers across all grids…

BMCRC Thunderbike Sport

The format and rules for TBSp will stay the same. BMCRC SuperTwins will run on the same grid and in 2026 we will allow the BMW F900 as a specific bike exception now able to score points & prizes. We will also allow the BSB type sport bikes….Yamaha R7 the Aprilia 660 and the Triumph 660.

BMCRC Rookie 600 & Rookie 1000

An agreement has been reached at the ACU Road Race Commission to withdraw the availability of the Intermediate Novice grade licence - this will have effect from 2026 and means that we will withdraw the R1000 class from competition. This will be the same for other Clubs running Rookie or Newcomer 1000 Championships.

The Rookie 600 class is still available to new entrants to the sport and will run alongside Thunderbike Ultra and Extreme as a separate championship.

ACU - BMCRC Thunderbike 500

After its first successful year, adjustments will be made to the weight class bands to even up the numbers that appear in each subclass:

Lightweight will now be up to 90 Kg

Middleweight 90-105 Kg

Heavyweight over 105 kg

There will also be a rookie class as there was in ‘25

MRO 600 and Clubman 600 SuperSport

Discussion has been extensive over recent weeks to consider of the best format for rules going forward for 2026. We intend to include some of the Next-Gen 600 and some of you will have seen the demonstration and test that took place at Snetterton in the hands of Phil Seton on the new Yamaha R9 (our cover shot for this round)

Rules are to be revised that will cap all bikes to a maximum on the Bemsee Dyno of 130 bhp. We will exclude the Suzuki GSXR 750 and the Ducati Panigale V2. It's likely that we will introduce a speed trap on each course to aid the policing of this class overall. Beyond this there are no significant rule changes on MRO 600

DFDS Yamaha Past Masters & Formula 400

The YPM's will continue to feature at each round and we will guarantee every YPM entrant a grid slot. The spare capacity in this grid will be used to create a new… Open 500 Class…. F400s will be eligible for this class as well the likes of CB500 and all of our Ninjas. It's expected that this will make up a new and competitive open class and give many riders a second class option.

ACU Team Green Junior Cup & Senior Ninjas and BMZRC 250 MZ

MRO Minitwins and BMCRC Rookie Minitwins

F1 & F2 Sidecars – Will miss Oulton & Cadwell May meetings

There's no change to the structure that has been in place for these classes in 2025

Guest Classes

We plan to invite the British SuperKarts again for selected rounds and are in discussion with other guests. These have been a great addition to our paddock and race schedule.

Meeting formats

Meeting formats will remain as 2025 with the bulk of classes having Qual and 4 races over the weekend. We will retain the formats of 3 races for MRO 600 and Powerbikes with 600 having a long race on Saturday and PB having a long one on Sunday.

Entry Fees

It’s likely that entry fees will rise slightly in 2026, certainly costs for each meeting have risen so we will have to make some changes.

Resources

The Club still benefits from an extensive Marshaling community and we continue to support all our Marshals & Officials with accommodation, food and small subsistence payments, We plan to continue that support, all funded by your entry fees.
