I have been involved in the world of Bike Racing since 1979, when I went to work voluntarily for a little known club, The Southern 67 Racing Club. I worked as the telephone operator keeping in touch with the Marshals posts around the circuit….very few radios around then.

Following S67’s demise, I went to work for KRC, doing the same job until radios became more commonplace and I began working those, as well as assisting the Safety Officer. One of KRC’s race secretaries then became BMCRC’s CEO and asked me to go along and work at their meetings in the Paddock Office. That was in 1988 and I’ve been in there ever since!

BMCRC began as a voluntary weekend job for me as I worked in a City Bank during the week. But following the births of my 2 children and bored with sitting at home watching daytime TV, I was offered a part time job at the BMCRC office in 2000. When the full time vacancies came up in 2006, I was asked if I would be part of the new team along with Mike Dommett. My job at BMCRC is dealing with all the paperwork that makes up a Race Meeting as well as membership and licence applications to entry forms to timetables to signing on sheets. That’s the day job and you can then find me in the Paddock office on Race Days, usually first one there and last one to leave!

Racing is a big part of my life and has been now for 30 years. My family is involved too as my parents are part of the Timekeeping team and my brother Richard is BMCRC’s commentator.
