The recent survey of all Classes on this matter has now concluded.

We thank the 269 riders who took part across all classes.....the outcome was an overwhelming YES - to adopt fastest lap from pervious race as being the preferred way to grid the next race.

The Supplementary Regulations for 2017 will read on this point:

15. PRACTICE / QUALIFYING. (All Classes)
Each rider must complete the practice/qualifying session for their Class.
The practice / qualifying schedule will be printed in the final instructions.
Grid Positions will be allocated by the organisers for the first (usually Saturday) race for each class based on the best time achieved in the class’s qualifying session.
Subsequent races will grid according to the fastest lap achieved by each rider in the previous race, even if the rider falls or suffers a mechanical failure that causes a dnf, the best laptime scored will be used. If a rider fails to register a laptime, their grid position for the following race will be at the back of the grid.
