CADWELL PARK AUGUST - REPORT

BMCRC Round 8 - Cadwell Park 18 / 19 August 2012

Premier / Stock / Clubman 1000s...Hat-trick for Neeves to take the Title

BMCRC Premier 1000 championship leader Michael Neeves strolled to three wins at a blisteringly hot Cadwell Park over the weekend, extending his lead at the top of the standings to take the title. The Park Lane BMW S1000RR mounted rider qualified on the front row in third, with Stock 1000 rider and championship leader Dan Fowler ahead of him and Phil Crowe on pole. But it was Neeves who made the start in Saturday's race, while he was pursued from behind by Fowler, Jon Waghorn and Crowe. Crowe initially slotted into second, but a mistake saw him drop down the field, giving himself some work to do to get back into contention. That left Waghorn and Fowler to do battle for the podium and for the 25 points in the stock class. However, on lap eight, the race was stopped after Fowler crashed out on his MG Sear Plant Hire Honda Fireblade. Waghorn was awarded second and the leading Stock 1000, while Crowe battled back up to third and was the second Premier 1000. The leading Clubman was John Coughlan on his Bikersworld Aprilia in eighth.

Neeves completed his triple win on Sunday and all but cemented himself as the 2012 Premier 1000 champion. In the first race he slotted in behind Fowler early on, as it soon became apparent it was a two horse race at the front. Neeves eventually bettered the Stock championship leader, and took the win by two tenths of a second. Fowler was second and leading Stock 1000 and Neil Watson crossed the line in third on his Premier Honda Fireblade. Coughlan was again the leading Clubman in seventh. In the final outing the same duo escaped at the front, and Fowler led the way early on. However, it wasn't long before Neeves found his way past, securing his third win of the weekend by three tenths of a second.

Fowler was again second, while Michael Neeves' brother Ben bettered Watson for third and second Premier 1000. Coughlan wrapped up his third victory in the Clubman class with a seventh placed finish.

Premier / Stock 1000s...Top Points Haul For Fowler

Dan Fowler took two seconds and a first overall in the Bemsee Premier and Stock 1000s at Cadwell, keeping him at the top of the Stock 1000 leader board. Fowler, on his MG Sear Plant Hire Honda Fireblade topped the time sheets in qualifying by nearly one and a half seconds, with Premier 1000 series leader Michael Neeves second on the grid, and Jon Waghorn making up the three-wide front row. In Saturday’s race Fowler couldn’t convert his pole into a win, despite getting away well at the front with BMW mounted Michael Neeves. The pair diced throughout, and Fowler led the way at the half way stage, before Neeves forced his way past and made it stick. And while this was going on, Michael O’Brien, who qualified down in eighth on the Chord-Moon BMW S1000RR, made his way through the pack and slotted into third. He was calm and calculated, and sat third for the majority of the race, before taking Fowler on the penultimate lap. He then took Neeves on the last lap, on his way to setting the fastest lap of the race. He eventually took the win by nearly two seconds. He was the leading Stock 1000, with Fowler, who managed to retake Neeves, second and second Stock 1000. Neeves in third was the leading Premier 1000. Jon Waghorn completed the Stock 1000 podium in fourth, 17 seconds back of the leading group.

SNETTERTON 200 JULY 2012 - REPORT

Round 6 - Snetterton 200

National Junior Cup...Hill Takes Three Wins But Maxfield Leads Championship

Stefan Hill took three wins from four in the Rapid Solicitors National Junior Cup, but it was Aaron Maxfield who moved to the top of the championship standings. It was Maxfield who qualified on pole, nearly a second ahead of Hill, but come race-day there was nothing to separate them. Adam Cross and Mason Law, who arrived at Snetterton leading the championship, made up the front row. In race one Hill got away at the front, with Maxfield chasing, and a two-way battle for the lead ensued. And with the pair of them on equally prepared Kawasaki Ninja 250s, a lot of slipstreaming took place. Going onto the last lap and Hill and Maxwell hit turn one together, but it all went awry at Montreal, as excitement got the better of Hill, and he crashed out. That left Maxfield to take the win and close in on Law at the top of the standings, with Law managing second, just ahead of Adam Cross.

BMCRC Michelin Minitwins - Couzens Extends Championship Lead

Dan Couzens extended his championship lead in the Michelin Minitwins, taking a win and a second place over the Jubilee weekend. The Team V-Speed Suzuki rider put his SV650 on pole position on Monday, just ahead of Jesse Jones, who arrived at Oulton Park second in the championship. They were joined on the front row by former Superteen rider Jordan Gilbert, and Neil MacQueen. Jones made the start in race one on Tuesday, and led out of turn one and down the hill. But braking downhill into the first left hander for the first time saw the race leader crash out. That left Couzens and Gilbert to get away at the front, but Charlie King, who made an excellent start after qualifying in 10th, soon joined them, and after sitting third until the halfway stage, he fought his way past Gilbert and then Couzens on lap four. The pace quickened, with King and Couzens breaking away from Gilbert, the pair of them also setting their fastest laps of the race on the final lap. But 2011 champion Couzens had no answer, and King took the win on the S&S Panelcraft Suzuki, just over a tenth ahead of Couzens. Gilbert joined them on the podium in third, while behind, Ashley Buxton just edged out Seb Kelly for fourth.
