My first exposure to racing was on TV in the late 70’s when a Mr Barry sheen was showing the rest of the world how it was done, so that was it I was going motorcycle racing. However nature had a thing to say about this and there was no way that I was ever going to be the right size or shape for racing at any level, so this was all forgotten and for family reasons I did not get a road bike until early 1992. My garage is now full with a BSA 1949 (long stroke) A7 in bits, GPZ 600, Honda 600 Hornet, and my beloved black Honda CB1300SA.
Being involved with racing did not come to mind again until I met Henry Cullen who you all will know as “H”. He suggested that I come along to a meeting and to see if I wanted to join the club. So one cold and Windy March morning in 2005 at Snetterton I came to see what club racing was all about and that was it I was hooked.
After much training from Jeff Lennox, Henry Cullen and John Wilson I got my first Technical officials licence in 2005. I progressed to senior technical official and sound inspector at the end of 2006. I then became a measurer at the beginning of 2008 followed by obtaining a FIM Technical Stewards licence at the end of 2009.
My present role is to be a part of the technical team and taking the role of chief technical official in rotation with the other senior technical officials, also consulting on the class regulations and training the new technical officials.
All this is why I look forward to being a part of the technical team and Bemsee for many years to come. |
