My bike racing career started with a spell on a crosser in my teens, quite a few road bikes and not a few years later I stumbled on the Bemsee stand at the Ally Pally, next thing I knew I was on the starting grid at Lydden on a hired bike, well and truly hooked on short circuit racing, what followed was a fairly immediate purchase and a season on a TZR, and a few trips to the med centre, the following season much of the same on a Minitwin.
During an excursion to Croix with the club I fell under the spell of the Dark Side, I had strayed into the lower end of the paddock and I had parked up next to a couple of sidecar teams. I found myself fatally attracted to some incredible pieces of three wheeled engineering and within a year or so of the spell being cast I had sold the minitwin, was driving a bigger van and funny enough it was jammed full of sidecar.
I started in the F2 class, racing three very different bikes, I spent most of my life on Ebay bidding for engines and parts, pulling the bikes apart rebuilding and prepping and of course racing them.
In late 2007 I got all grown up and sold up my F2 collection and bought an F1 which I have raced for the last two seasons and for 2010 will be competing at Bemsee running #66
This is my tenth year as a Bemsee member, I am looking forward to what looks like one of the most promising years for sidecar racing at club level for many a year, with the introduction for 2010 of the ACU F1 Clubmans cup, in conjunction with a fantastic class sponsorship package provided by the promoters RKBF1.
